We don’t need Music
Music isn’t necessary.
Not in the way food, water, or shelter are.
It doesn’t sustain our physical survival or protect us from harm.
One could argue that life can continue without it, and many practical aspects of existence—work, health, relationships—don’t depend on music to function. In the strictest sense, music is not essential to survival.
But while music isn’t a biological necessity, it is deeply essential to the human experience.
Throughout history and across every culture, music has been a vital form of expression, storytelling, and connection. It stimulates the brain, influences emotions, and fosters creativity.
It helps us process complex feelings, bond with others, and find a sense of identity.
Music nourishes the soul, providing comfort, joy, and meaning.
It enriches life in ways that make us feel more alive, more human, and more connected to ourselves and the world around us.
Music might not sustain life…
…but it sustains living.
Have a nice day,
Claudio.
