Vulnerability

On the complexities of sharing.

Sharing personal things with others basically has two sides.

A positive side, and of course, a negative one.

When you share your opinions on the web, you’re exposed to praise from like-minded people, and also to haters.

When you share your feelings with someone else, you might get either love or rejection.

When you share something like a poem you wrote or a piece of music you composed, you’re sharing an intangible that likely has no linguistic description, but can only be perceived in the secret language of feelings.

Having it praised can be a glorious feeling.

Having it criticized can break your heart. It’s hard not to take it personally.

When you share your credit card details you’re exposing yourself to get a good product, or a bad product… or a hacker stealing your card… (fortunately this option is less likely).

But it does feel good when you buy something that is meaningful. At least I do. I feel super good when I get more than what I paid for.

Because a great work of art, for example, is incalculable in value. You couldn’t put a price on the benefit it brings you. That is, if you appreciate art.

So, when someone tells me what I was told yesterday by a certain subscriber, I can either be offended or take it as a joke from an ignorant. Either way, that person will probably never buy anything that I deem worthwhile. And being that the case, I can also guess that my emails don’t give him much value.

So it’s pointless to have him on the list.

I technically can’t throw him away, he has to unsubscribe himself voluntarily (you know who you are ;) but I also don’t really care.

Anyone and everyone is free to stay, leave, buy, criticize, praise, or do whatever they want.

I will keep on sharing despite my vulnerability in doing so. And I will keep on offering the work I do, not for free, because its value has at least a symbolic worth, even if it actually would be worth much more. Even if some can´t come to undersand such a basic concept…

Here is yesterday’s recommended product from me, the sheet music of this piano piece, Alina, that so many people have already asked for: Sheet Music for Alina.

And here is the link where you can listen to it, in case you didn’t yet. That is for free: Alina, Listen to it now.

Enjoy. And have a great day.

P.D. Do you want to know what this person said to me?

P.D.D. If your answer is yes, then keep an eye out for tomorrow’s message. I’ll share that plus a couple of other “nice” hate messages :)
