True beauty

“Happiness is sometimes hidden in the unknown”.

In this quote from “Les Miserables”, Victor Hugo reflects on the idea that joy and fulfillment can often be found in unexpected places or situations that are not immediately apparent.

Remember the film “American Beauty”? I haven´t seen it for ages, but I remember the impact it had on me.

What is the beauty there?

Is it that Lester finally detached from “acceptable” social norms and led a free life?

Is it that his life ended with a smile?

For me, it is the bag that danced around dragged by the wind.

It´s the spark in the eyes of Wes, showing what he filmed in his handheld camera to a troubled teen he might have fallen in love with.

Outside of the movies, in the real world, it’s the tiny sprout of grass growing out of the crack in the asphalt sidewalk.

It´s the color of the sky in the early morning, just before the sun rises.

It´s the dew on the leaf, born out of nowhere in a single instant.

It´s the inadvertent kiss on the cheek by your daughter who just passed you by on her way to her room.

Sometimes we´re blinded from this simple beauty, and can´t see their true power due to being so used to them. Or blinded by the freneticism of modern life.

I invite you to take a moment to appreciate simple things' true beauty. Be them on the physical world or in the spiritual plane, were thoughts and feelings, consciousness and subconsciousness come together.

Have a great weekend.

Claudio.
