Three to rule them all

I promised yesterday that I would share with you today three musical works that I think are absolutely mind-blowingly beautiful. Pure pleasure for the senses.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Or in the ear, in this case.

Debussy, the first composer whom I will mention today, was (according to him) more inspired by extra-musical stimuli to compose his music. Perhaps the piece I´ll mention first in this list is a clear example of that:

Another great example of absolute beauty comes from my favorite composer. Johannes Brahms. A German who lived during the same time as Liszt but composed somewhat more towards Beethoven´s way.

And the last piece is not classical but comes from the great tradition of Tango Orchestras. You might know Astor Piazzolla or perhaps Carlos Gardel as one of the most internationally recognized exponents of tango music.

But they say that in the golden era of tango, after the 1930´s, there were more than 1000 tango orchestras in Buenos Aires. I´m not sure if that´s true or false (sounds to me a bit like a legend…) but at least it is true that there were so many that you could go out every night of the year and listen to a different orchestra every day. Remarkable.

The piece I´ll share was composed by a genius named Julio de Caro, and performed by a group of wonderful musicians who put an homage to him with a violin solo part that is too beautiful for words, performed by a genius of the violin: Szymsia Bajour.

These three are among my favorite pieces. But if I had to make a list of all of them, the list would be larger than all my e-mails put together.

I passionately enjoy listening and playing music, and nothing stimulates my spirit as much as music.

I hope you enjoy these magical pieces.

Have a great day,

Claudio.
