This changed everything
There were a few pivotal moments in my life, things that happened that literally changed it’s course.
And today I was thinking of one, specifically about what I believed I was capable of.
Years ago, when I was a young student, my piano teacher and I were deciding the repertoire I would work on for the next couple of months. Then, she asked from me something I deemed impossible:
“Let’s work on Brahms’s first piano concerto. Next week, play for me the entire first movement. Oh, and do it by heart.”
I thought she’d gone crazy. This work stands among the longest and most difficult works in piano history!
I left the room thinking what an embarrassment I’d make of myself next week. And, I started practicing.
As days went by, I went from frustration, to self pity, to disbelief, to hope, to amazement.
One week later, after countless hours of focus and dedication, I played for her not just the first movement, but the full 45-minute-long concerto for her, entirely by heart.
She was impressed. But I was more impressed than her.
Turns out, I had the power to do something I thought was impossible to do.
This was the starting point for many musical and extra-musical adventures that shaped the course of my life & career and allowed me to nowadays live exactly the life I want to live, and head exactly towards I want to head.
For this 2026 that has just started, I’d love to encourage you to believe and remember that you’re probably more capable of what you think you are.
Have a great day, Claudio.
