The spinning wheel

Rouet, French for "spinning wheel," alludes to a timeless device that intertwines human ingenuity with rhythmic repetition.

Like the turning of a wheel, my composition Rouet unfolds in cycles, its melodies weaving delicate threads that oscillate between mechanical precision and emotional resonance. The piece juxtaposes intricate, clockwork-like arpeggios with sudden bursts of lyrical expressiveness, mirroring the human connection to the inanimate—a bond as old as the spinning wheel itself.

Listeners of Rouet may hear echoes of a workshop's quiet hum, the solitude of craftsmanship, or even the subtle revolution of nature’s cycles. At its heart, the piece is more than an ode to a machine; it’s a meditation on rhythm as a universal constant—be it in art, work, or life itself.

In a world dominated by fast-paced innovation, Rouet invites us to pause and reflect on the beauty of repetition, the artistry in mechanism, and the soul within structure. It’s a piece that asks not only to be heard but to be felt, as it spins its way into the listener’s imagination.
