The Italian Villa

I got the chance to perform in a beautiful 16th-century villa in the Piemonte region in Italy a few days ago.

I haven´t been to Italy since before the pandemic. The last time was in the beautiful main theatre in Cagliari, and this time it was in a small, very different type of setting.

An old restored villa with many acres of grapes from which they produce their own wines.

An idyllic location, to say the very least.

As you know, my last name is Constantini. But I´m not Italian, nor do I speak Italian. Every time I´m in Italy, I´m a little bit ashamed of saying my name and speaking in English…

My Italian ancestors were from Niza (Nice) in times when that beautiful town was part of Italy; it´s now the main city in the eastern region of Provence, France).

So, that was very long ago.

In any case, I do feel strangely at home every time I´m in Italy. This time it was no different and I must say that the people from the organization were extra nice; this is not something you can take for granted when you´re touring around.

As usual, I took the opportunity to play some beautiful music and I was inspired to record a short video playing one of my favorite works by Bach: the Gigue from the Partita nr.2 for solo violin, adapted of course for bandoneon.

You can see me perform it at this beautiful location by clicking here.

Enjoy, and have a great day!

Claudio.
