Technology doesn ́t wait
There’s something quietly unsettling about the way technology moves. It doesn’t ask us if we’re ready. It doesn’t pause for permission. It simply advances—because it can.
Jacques Ellul called this the “autonomy of technique.” Once a new possibility appears, it unfolds almost inevitably. Not because we need it, not because we’ve thought it through, but because it exists. And so, we adapt—after the fact.
I often wonder what that means for those of us who still believe in slow things. In craft. In silence. In the kind of beauty that isn’t efficient or optimized.
Sometimes I feel like we’re living in a world that keeps turning the page before we’ve finished reading the last sentence. And yet, here we are—still trying to make something meaningful. Still trying to hold space for reflection in a time that rarely allows it.
I don’t have answers. Just the quiet conviction that not everything that’s possible is worth pursuing. And that maybe the most human thing we can do… is to choose where we place our attention, even when everything around us moves without asking.
Have a nice day,
Claudio.
