The side effect

In general terms, I´m a very healthy person.

I don´t drink, I don´t smoke, I don´t do drugs.

I exercise every single day.

I read and investigate about health.

I am very careful with my eating habits.

But since December, I´ve been having some health issues. Strangely, my wife too.

It turns out there were some fungi growing on a wall, close to where we sleep. But we didn’t find out until recently.

The consequence: two cases of pneumonia in little over 5 months. We´ve been breathing them. They´re long gone now… we eliminated them thoroughly.

If you read my newsletter a few weeks ago, you might remember that I was struck with Pneumonia (from which I´m fully recovered by now thankfully).

But I didn’t tell you about a side effect I´ve developed. It´s been a bothersome few weeks, to say the least.

It turns out that as a consequence of pneumonia, my right ear has been completely blocked. It´s been a few weeks now. I can´t hear anything from it, and I have to constantly make people repeat what they´re saying to me.

The worst thing about it is practicing and playing concerts. It is absolute torture and it’s driving me crazy.

Doctors say it will disappear in the next few weeks, and there´s nothing we can do to accelerate the process.

If this drives me crazy, I can´t imagine how Beethoven must have felt.

Fortunately, it will be gone soon enough. It´s giving me a very hard time though. And it makes me remember that famous quote by Virgil from 2000 years ago:

“The greatest wealth is health.”

Wishing you a happy and healthy day.

Claudio.
