I Reveal my Age.

The first thing you should know is that age is a number.

I know you might´ve heard that before (cliché?), but it´s true:

A number is an abstract concept (by definition a mathematical object) that we´ve made up in order to organize ourselves. Just like money.

Try explaining money to a chipmunk, or a parrot.

Try explaining age to an elephant. POintless, isn´t it?

But, is it pointless for us humans? If the concept of age wouldn´t exist…

-Would we have a middle age crisis?

-When would we retire from our jobs?

-When would we be able to get our driver´s license, or to drink alcohol?

That being said, I´m 40 years old.

I remember when my father turned 40. It was such a big deal. I was 10 at the time. Forty was an age that was so far away from my grasp, that I felt almost as if it would never come.

For me now, turning 40 wasn´t a big deal at all.

And to be honest, I had even forgotten it until a few days ago when my age came up in a conversation. I turned 40 on the 29th of July, but the first time I said “I´m 40 years old” was just a few days ago. I guess there´s no turning back now.

Honestly, I feel (and am) very young. Long ago I thought I would feel so old at 40. It´s all relative. I feel as if two, or even one year ago, I was a completely ignorant idiot. And surely, next year when I´m 41 I´ll think the same thing of myself as when I was 40.

Two things are happening now that I´m 40.

-First, as a thank you to all you amazing readers, I´m doing a draw to give away one signed copy of my album “Debussy Preludes” to one of you, subscribers to this newsletter.

However, the drawing from the lot to select the winner is not going to be today as I said yesterday, but tomorrow, Sunday (I´m already starting to act all confused, must be that I turned 40…). So good luck to you all! I´ll contact the winner tomorrow.

-And Secondly, and this might be very surprising and interesting to you: from September onwards I´m going to launch a membership program.

And it´s coming out of the necessity to have a voice and control as an artist and creative, despite the (extremely) unfavorable conditions that musicians and all artists often have to face in the music industry.

But I´ll be telling you more about this bit by bit in the following days.

It´s going to be very interesting, and very very beautiful. There will be a main focus, but also quite a few extras that will make you learn, enjoy, and appreciate music in ever more profound ways.

I can´t wait to tell you more in the next few days!

For now, I just wish you to enjoy your day and also the beautiful things that come with your age, whatever those might be.

Claudio.
