Pont du Carrousel

I had felt it long before.

The river flows below me. Cars. Bicycles. People passing by, their loud chatter muffled by the sound of my thoughts deep inside my mind and the music coming from my earphones.

A Walkman. Cassette tapes. A pencil.

I still kept them with me at all times even though they were long out of fashion by the beginning of the 21st century.

It´s funny how a place can make you feel both big and small at the same time.

The Seine gave me that feeling. It´s the same feeling that years before the Pacific coast had given me in my home city: Lima. I also enjoyed taking it in with a Walkman in my hand and headphones in my ears.

And then, while staring at the unmeasurable beauty of Paris from my cozy spot in the Pont du Carrousel, I realized that my capacity to dream was intact.

“Pont du Carrousel” eventually became a musical piece. 15 years later, I released it. You can listen to it here, at the top of my Bandoneon playlist.

And, if you really enjoyed it, consider getting the album An Imaginary Soundtrack, where this piece is accompanied by 15 others written in that year of endless walks through Parisian streets, cafés & croissants, and inspired mind wanderings that lasted till way past midnight.

Have a great day,

Claudio.
