- You ought to be listening.
You ought to be listening.
A man said: “ohh it’s windy today, isn’t it?”.
The other one said, “no, it’s Thursday”.
Listening is important. In life, and in music.
Listening to music, lots of music, is the foundation of our love for it. Simple, yet powerful.
Our taste both as music lovers and as musicians is greatly influenced by the music we listen to in combination with our character and sensibility.
I am terribly sensitive to music because I was closely related to it even before I was born (my parents both being professional musicians). And I didn’t even have to learn to appreciate highly complicated music, like classical music since it was part of my nature. I was very lucky.
If you aren’t as lucky as me in that aspect, which is very likely, the best thing you can do is to expose yourself to as much music as possible. New music. Old music. World music. Jazz. Classical. Folk. Dance. Hip Hop. Samba. EVERYTHING!
For years, part of my daily chores has been to listen to a piece of music that I’ve never heard before. EVERY day. This has been a key factor in my development and opened my mind further to different types of expression. I’ve learned to love the world in new ways because of all the music I’ve listened to.
I highly encourage you to do the same.
Tomorrow, you’ll have the chance to listen to a new piece. It’s called “Íntimo” and it’s my next release.
Pre-save it now if you haven’t done so yet and you’ll be among the very first ones to listen to it. You can do so HERE (Yes, click on the link ;)
Have a great day!
Claudio.
