Life is not like INstagram

The truth about living the “Musician” or “Artist Life”…

Is it as romantic as we see it on Instagram?

Let´s speak some truth here… and it ain´t necessarily that pretty…

First, let´s begin by closing yesterday´s circle:

→ We have a winner of the signed album “Debussy Preludes” that I was giving away this week. The winner has been notified, and if you haven´t received a personal e-mail from me notifying you, don´t worry. There will be future gifts and you can all participate!

And now, back to what I wanted to speak about…

Do you know that feeling of being a tiny particle inside a huge structure that runs and dictates what is to happen? Too small to make a difference, too far from the top to be noticed at all.

This is something that often happens to musicians, and perhaps all artists.

Let me be very clear, I don´t think there is a perfect solution. The large community of artists (and people in general) consists of very different individuals with very specific and unique talents, each with his or her own way of doing things; therefore, making a model that fits everyone is an unreachable utopia.

This leaves us with a few people in a few corporations with the power to control the industry.

And I´m not aiming against them. I´m sure that many want the best possible solutions for everybody. But as I said before, it´s just too many people to consider.

The truth is that artists are usually people who are very passionate about what they do and wouldn´t do anything else with their lives.

But, contrary to what you´ll (mostly) see on social media, it´s also a fact that artists are among the people who struggle the most with maintaining physical, mental, and economic stability in their lives.

And in the record industry, it´s well known that a few big fish get most of the pie.

Independent artists are in a fragile and very unfavorable position when it comes to recording and releasing albums. Especially now when digital streaming has taken preference over physical albums.

However, I believe that artists contribute an essential part of what constitutes being human. Music has been with us since the beginning of time. And we must find ways to get some control back over our art.

So, I´ve decided to make a small shift or addition to the model of my life as a musician.

I am launching a Membership Program.

This is a physical album program. One album per month, recorded and produced entirely by me (just like I´ve done with my last two releases which by the way have won prices and general recognition among audience and international press).

The album will be a testimony of my daily work, which is to make music. I spend my whole day thinking either of music or of how to make further steps in positioning myself with music. And I practice, compose, and record extensively, every single day of my life.

So I´m basically putting that into a merchandisable format for physical delivery.

And even if the files will also be digitally available for everyone´s convenience, I also believe in physical, tangible products that personally show the care and effort that we artists take in putting the very best of us in whatever we do.

And, by doing so, also aim to inspire people to live the best lives they possibly can.

Even if the physical CD album and its digital album format will be the main focus of the Membership Program, there will also be weekly additions and bonuses that will entertain and inspire and make you appreciate music in newer (and perhaps deeper) ways. These are just as valuable as the albums in my opinion.

The program will open this coming Saturday 2nd of September. More information and some previews are coming these next days.

Sounds interesting? Reply to this e-mail and let me know. I´m limiting the number of people who will be able to enter the program, and it will help me estimate what that number should be in the beginning of this program.

I´ll leave you now with a playlist I´ve curated where you can listen to some picks of beautiful music where the Bandoneon is protagonist: Bandoneon Inspiration.

Have a great day, and stay inspired!

Claudio.
