La Foule - Reminiscencias

During a Latin-American tour, French icon Edith Piaf had the opportunity to listen to a talented singer Ángel Castillo interpreting a beautiful song that captivated her soul: “Que Nadie Sepa mi Sufrir".”

Written by composer, guitarist, and singer Ángel Cabral, this song is set to the rhythm of a Peruvian Waltz (I´m Peruvian, so this touches home…).

Piaf was seduced by the song and back in pairs, she urged the songwriter Michel Rivgauche to do a French version, which was aptly titled: “La Foule”.

Piaf´s version was a smash hit and became much more popular than the original version.

The song tells the story of a woman swept up by a joyful crowd during a festival, where she meets and briefly connects with a man. However, just as suddenly, the crowd pulls them apart, and she loses him forever.

The music’s waltz rhythm, combined with Piaf's powerful voice, captures the intensity of love and the inevitability of loss, making "La Foule" a bittersweet classic.

In my album “An Imaginary Soundtrack”, I combined Piaf/Cabral´s classic with a waltz of mine called Reminiscencias.

You can listen to it on Spotify, and you can also purchase the album which has just been printed in a beautiful CD format. Get your copy here.

Have a great day,

Claudio.
