Harmony is not easy

Today, while working out, I heard something that caught my attention:

“Harmony requires lots of work.”

I had never thought about it that way, but it’s so true!

The smooth and balanced coexistence of different elements doesn’t just happen by chance. Living in harmony demands a conscious effort to align different thoughts, perspectives, actions and values.

The thing that strikes me the most however is how a harmonious environment, relationship, circumstance, etc, appears to exist in such a seamless manner. It’s looks like they require no effort at all!

Just like the hands of a virtuoso rolling through the keys of a piano. Doesn’t it appear “easy” to them?

An apparently “simple” composition lives as easily as a human walks. But it was not easy to learn to walk. There’s a highly complex system that has been put to place in order for a baby to take its first steps. Not to speak about how much we have needed to evolve as a species before we could even stand on two feet.

No wonder why life appears to be chaotic. It’s difficult to live in balance with our surroundings and within ourselves.

So, next time you wonder why you just can’t seem to get it together, remember that it’s much more complex to live a harmonious life than what you might’ve initially thought… and give yourself a break.

And, when you do feel the bliss of harmony, just like in some bars of a Bach Prelude, I hope you can savor the moment and appreciate just how beautiful life is.

Have a nice day,

Claudio.
