Fuga, but not by Bach...

A couple of weeks ago, I was at the fabulous Beyeler Foundation in Basel, Switzerland.

I came here to give a concert, a solo bandoneon recital in their summer garden series, a lovely spot to get inspired and play some music.

Moments before the concert began, I had the opportunity to visit its world-famous gallery, boasting works by Monet, Degas, Picasso, Rousseau, etc.

Whenever I visit an art gallery or museum, I choose one art piece to stare at for a long moment. Or rather, the artwork chooses me, I just happen to find it on my way and I´m captivated by its energy.

Considering the little time I had right before the concert, this was the only way I could get some depth out of this short-lived experience.

And yes, it happened.

I found the painting that captivated me, not even a minute after I had entered the gallery.

There was a completely new work for me, by Kandinsky.

Fuga.

That´s the name of this multidimensional artwork - a visual fugue where every curve and contrast sings its own song, yet together they compose a story that transcends sound and sight.

In its layers, we find the harmony that binds the universe.

This is more than a painting; it´s a reminder that the world is full of hidden music waiting to be heard.

I started my concert, deeply touched, playing some improvisations based on the intricate feelings I had after seeing this Fuga.

I hope you get the chance to see this breathtaking piece if you haven´t yet.

Enjoy, and have a great day.

Claudio.
