The first time.
I was so imprssed the first CD that I saw a CD…
I was maybe 10 or 11 years old. It looked like something so from the future…
You must remember that I was born and raised in Lima, Perú in the 1980´s in the middle of great turmoil and unrest in our country with criminality, violence, and poverty striking impossible records. These sorts of technologies like Cd´s always were alien to us at first and arrived late to us, being reserved for the only privileged few who could afford such things.
At home, we actually had Cd´s before we even had a sound system that could reproduce them. But eventually, we got there…
I thought that albums were something that just the greatest most respectable musicians could possibly afford to record.
30 years later, I´ve recorded 9 of them myself, plus collaborating in a few dozen other CD album productions for other musicians.
An album is a very special thing to me. It´s sort of like a book in a way. It tells a story of a time and place in your life. If I had to record my albums again, they surely would sound very different now.
Out of the 9 albums I´ve made, I only have a few copies left of four of them.
All the others are either sold out or were produced only for digital release.
But if you´re like me, you might actually enjoy gaving the physical product. I love selecting and touching the album I´m about to listen to, opening it, and reserving the time and space of mind to fully enjoy the music.
I have absolutely nothing against modern streaming technologies, in fact, I love them and use them dailiy. But they offer a different type of experience.
If you´d like to have some of my albums, just in time so they arrive before Christmas (it can be a present for somebody else or for yourself), I´ll be selling these albums myself for the following two weeks.
Pay attention to tomorrow´s mail, the sale starts then.
For now, enjoy my Intimate Piano Playlist for some inspiration. Click here to listen.
Have a great day,
Claudio.
