- Who am I, in the eyes of most people?
Who am I, in the eyes of most people?
You know that feeling as if time itself freezes?
That moment when you are experiencing something and you´re so much in awe that seconds, minutes or hours pass by and you don´t even notice?
I don´t know if then, time shrinks, or expands…
I am blessed to have been able to see so many marvelous things and places in this world.
I lived in The Netherlands for many years, and one of the things I most loved about it were its museums.
I´ll never forget the first time I went to the Van Gogh museum. Words can´t describe my amazement upon gazing and staring at those paintings for what seemed like ages.
Time froze.
These words come from one of the letters Vincent Van Gogh wrote to his brother Theo:
“What am I in the eyes of most people? A good-for-nothing, an eccentric and disagreeable man, somebody who has no position in society and never will have. Very well, even if that were true, I should want to show by my work what there is in the heart of such an eccentric man, of such a nobody.”
Despite painting for only 10 years after finding his true passion “late” in life and before his premature death at 37, Van Gogh produced more than 900 paintings.
900 testaments of a passionate, tormented and beautiful soul.
If you get the chance to personally see his works, I couldn´t recommend it enough.
Now, next 19th of October I´ll be back in Amsterdam performing a solo concert at a beautiful locally-run venue called Splendor. Many of you from The Netherlands have asked me when I´ll perform there, so this is your only chance this year. You can buy tickets on this link.
And perhaps it´s also a good opportunity to visit the Van Gogh Museum…
Have a great Sunday!
Claudio.
