Expectations
"Whoever wants music instead of noise, joy instead of pleasure, soul instead of gold, creative work instead of business, passion instead of foolery, finds no home in this trivial world of ours." Herman Hesse (Steppenwolf).
Haven’t we all felt that at some point?
That feeling of being out of place — wanting something deeper when everything around seems shallow.
Wanting quiet when everything shouts.
Wanting to create something honest, while the world rushes to package and sell whatever's fastest and loudest.
Sometimes I sit at the piano and wonder if anyone else feels that same tug — that quiet wish for more soul, less noise. And when I play, it’s almost like answering that wish, if only for a few minutes.
I think that’s why music matters so much to me. It’s not about showing something. It’s about returning to something.
To stillness. To sincerity. To beauty without explanation.
And if you’ve ever felt like the world isn’t quite made for the way you feel things... maybe that’s okay. Maybe we’re here to build a little corner where music speaks instead of noise.
I´ve released a new piece today called Expectations. It´s calm, simple, joyful, hopeful… all those things together and many more. Ironically, it was written down without any expectations, just created in one go as if it was caught with a single breath in the air.
You can listen to it here. I hope you enjoy it.
Have a nice day,
Claudio.
