Efímero

“Run down the list of those who felt intense anger at something: the most famous, the most unfortunate, the most hated, the most whatever: Where is all that now? Smoke, dust, legend…or not even a legend. Think of all the examples. And how trivial the things we want so passionately are.”

These wise words are from Marcus Aurelius, a Roman emperor, and Stoic philosopher born in the year 121.

In another quote and in other words, he says the same thing:

“Alexander the Great and his mule driver both died and the same thing happened to both.” I love that quote.

I´ve read Marcus Aurelius´s Meditations several times. What a great piece of work. His own diary… never would he have thought that it would be a best seller 2000 years later. The world is full of surprises.

I am constantly invaded by thoughts on how ephemeral everything is. For good and for bad.

But everything being so fugacious, in my eyes makes life so beautiful.

You must learn to see it that way though, if you don´t have it in you.

I didn´t have it in me. I had to learn it. Many years of reading and thinking and experiencing life with an analytical mind, eager to learn.

My conclusion is that life can be so incredibly beautiful. And so incredibly ephemeral.

Today, I´ve released an album with 23 new compositions of mine. It´s called Efímero, Spanish for Ephemeral.

Enjoy, and have a nice day.

Claudio.
