The "drunk" piece
I play bandoneon.
Yesterday was bandoneon day. Oddly enough it was also drummers´ day…
But, only in Argentina.
I´m not Argentinean. But I play bandoneon. And everyone thinks I’m Argentinean because of it…
Anyways, yesterday a legendary bandoneonist named Aníbal Troilo was born. Well, not yesterday, otherwise we wouldn’t know he was a great bandoneonist, being only one day of age…
He was born on the 11th of July in 1914.
And also on the 11th of July, in 2006, Oscar Moro died. He was one of the greatest drummers in Argentina.
Hence, the 11th of March is commemorated because of a birth, and a death.
One of my favorite tracks in my album Incandescence is also one of the least popular. It’s the less streamed track of my album. But I love it… it was completely improvised and it’s a musical “conversation” between my bandoneon and a drum, masterfully played by Shayan Fathi. The only other “intruder” in the track is an old Würli which I used to play just a few chords to give some context.
Here is this track: STATIC, from INCANDESSENCE.
Disclaimer: after listening to it you might think you’ve drunk some alcohol. Take the necessary caution if you’re going to drive…
Claudio.
