Correction from yesterday´s mail

Where am I from?

Yesterday my country celebrated 202 years of independence.

And I celebrated 40 years of life. Coincidence.

My country is Perú. I was born and raised in Lima, except for a period in my early youth when my family moved to Trujillo in the north of Perú for about 3 or 4 years if I´m not mistaken.

I´ve been living for 22 years in Europe, since I went to study in Finland when I was 18. I´ve also lived in The Netherlands for many years, and in Spain where I currently live. Oh, and I also studied in Paris for a year in 2010.

I´m often asked if I still miss my country.

It´s a hard question to answer since my home has been outside of my country for such a long time. If I would have to say where I feel most at home, I couldn´t really answer.

For the moment, home is where my wife and daughter are. Now it´s Spain, tomorrow it could very well be somewhere else.

I couldn´t say I have a patriotic feeling towards my home country. I was born there but I could´ve very well been born anywhere else, just like anybody. That´s why it´s so hard for me to understand extreme patriotic feelings that lead to heated discussions or even wars.

Having said that, there are some things from Perú that I really adore.

Food is one of them. I have still to find a place in the world where you can eat better than in Lima.

And the other is music, Peruvian music. I have a true love for it. It´s the one thing that makes me feel a real connection with my country and with my Latin-American roots.

Yesterday I shared a link where I performed for you a Peruvian waltz, but as many of you pointed out, the link unfortunately didn´work.

I´m confident this time it will work, and that you´ll enjoy this brief treat.

Have a great day.

Claudio.
