Casa

There´s something magical about visiting historical places.

Places where someone you greatly admire has been before, probably doing some of those great things that you admire them for.

Every time I visit a place like Vienna, Berlin, Venice or Paris, the first thing that comes to mind are the historical personalities that inhabited those cities and made history in them.

That´s why I loved studying in Paris. It was just for one year, but a year in which I soaked every single second of it like a cultural and musical sponge.

The place where I studied was founded by great personalities, Vincent D´Indy, Gabriel Fauré, Cesar Franck…

People like Debussy, Ravel, Satie and others where there, and I visited the same places where they lived or worked. I stalked around the place where Chopin used to live. Graves of ilustrious people in historical cemeteries. Bookshops from where Hemingway borrowed books. Cafés where Picasso chatted around with his friends…

It´s all magical.

And perhaps that´s why one of my favorite albums ever is one of my favorite albums ever.

I´m talking about Casa, an album recorded in 2001 by persnoalities I greatly admire, including Ryuichi Sakamoto. An album dedicated entirely to the works of one of my greatest idols: Antonio Carlos Jobim.

And the extra special thing about it?

It was recorded in Jobim´s former home in Rio de Janeiro.

Not only that, but most of the songs were recorded in his very own piano.

My gift for you today is telling you about this album. If you already knew it, then your memory can be refreshed and you can listen to it again. If not, you might fall in love.

Listen to this track from Casa, one of my favorite tracks from one of my favorite albums.

And if you liked it, I highly recommend listening to the full album.

Have a great day.

Claudio.
