The big bully

Finlay is eating candy and saves some up for his friend.

Suddenly, a bigger and stronger specimen appears and demands Finlay to give him all his Candy.

Finlay is brave and stands his ground. He doesn’t give in to the bully’s demands.

What the bully doesnñt know, is that Finlay´s friend is 10 times larger and stronger than him. Brontosauruses are indeed big creatures

Yes, these are dinosaurs. From my daughter´s current favorite bedtime book.

But, as we all know, children´s books are an imaginary simplification of real-life happenings.

In real life, I have been in situations in which I could deal with a riskier hand only because I knew that someone or something protected my back in case it all went wrong. I was protected. I was safe, even to lose.

Through the years I´ve learned that this is the mindset that has made me go further than anything else in achieving what I´ve set for.

The absence of fear.

BUT, with a twist, and this is very important: absence of fear even when not having anything to hold me in case I fall.

It´s risky, I know.

But no risk, no gain. I´m not going to wait for the perfect situation to make every important decision. Like moving to a different country, changing the focus of my career, or having a child.

If freedom is what we strive for, it´s my strong opinion that we´re responsible for attaining our own freedom. And it´s highly unlikely we´ll get anywhere without taking great risks, every once in a while.

I could go much deeper into my thoughts on this, but this is a newsletter, not a documentary.

I hope this bit of children´s book thoughts have inspired you.

A bit more musical inspiration here to accompany your Saturday morning: AIR by Bach.

Have a great day.
