Is art meant to be beautiful?
Just yesterday I revealed one of my pseudonyms to you, one of the many characters I represent.
His name is Alexandre.
It´s strange, having different artistic profiles and being the same perso, multiplying into several unique musical personalities.
I guess they all have something in common though. If that’s the case, I guess that would be the search for beauty.
One of my teachers, a great piano legend, told me once that art is not meant to be beautiful, but beauty can be found in all art, even in the “uglier” ones.
I found it very introspective and illuminating at the same time. How could we otherwise explain the great attraction we have to “ugly” works of art? Prokofiev´s 6th Sonata, Munch´s Scream, Goya’s Saturn… the examples seem to be endless.
It also amazes me how extremely sad works of art can often be the most beautiful ones… Mozart´s or Brahms´ Requiem, Van Gogh´s Eternity Gate… and a large etcetera.
Humans seem to connect deeper the stronger the emotion gets. That’s why both laughter and sorrow move and connect us, they bring us together.
One of the personalities I represent, that is, one of my pseudonyms, is Stella Lepik, a personality of eternal sorrow. I won’t say much about her, the music speaks for itself: Listen here to Stella Lepik´s latest release.
I hope despite the sadness it bears, you will enjoy it and maybe even find it beautiful. Let me know…
Have a great day, hopefully a happy one :)
Claudio.
