An eventful week

It´s Friday again.

Lots of things have happened this week, both positive and negative. As usual, I guess.

Some things are subjectively positive or negative, depending on the individual´s point of view.

But some things are undoubtedly 100% negative.

Like what´s happened here in Spain over the last weekend, during the course of this week, and still happening as you´re reading this.

The heavy rain and floods have done unspeakable damage to the region of Valencia in the Mediterranean coast. The life toll has been enormous. The whole nation is in shock.

Repairing the physical damage will be a long and hard task.

But for some, the personal damage is irreparable.

On Monday I was supposed to have a concert in Madrid, but it was cancelled due to national mourning being declared.

To be honest, I was relieved. I don´t think many people were in the mood to listen to live music. I certainly wasn´t in the mood to play.

At times like this, I´m reminded of Shakespeare´s words from King Lehar:

"As flies to wanton boys are we to the gods;
They kill us for their sport."

Sometimes, I feel like life and fate are unexplainable. It seems like we have little to say in the vast symphony of the universe. Therefore, we have to create our tiny little universes within our tiny little minds, giving our own meaning to ourselves, only for fate to take it all away in a split second.

In these somber times, ironically, I´m only more convinced that we should live life to its fullest. Every day.

As Chaplin said:

“There´s only one thing as inevitable as death, and that is life.”

Beautiful.

Have a great weekend.

Claudio.
