The most amazing story you´ll hear today
The call.
I got a call. She was a lady from Amsterdam, let’s call her Nina.
Nina didn’t know me personally, but she had heard about me a lot. She wasn´t calling because of her, but because of her mother, let´s call her Mrs. XX.
It turns out that Mrs. XX was a fan of mine.
Big fan.
She knew everything about me, from where I was born to how I was raised to where I lived and worked to how many times I´ve been married to where I was going to perform next. A true hardcore fan.
But she had only met me once personally, and this was the day that she saw and heard me for the first time, in a concert I gave in Amsterdam about 15 years ago. This is where she fell in love with my music (a big compliment for me) and closely followed my career ever since, without ever trying to contact me. Her daughter told me that she was very respectful of others and didn’t want to intercede in anyone’s life.
But she was curious.
Curious enough to have something of mine, something I thought had been lost for over a decade.
You see, 11 years ago when I still lived in Holland, I recorded and released my first album. It is called “Suite Latinoamericana” and includes me as a performer and composer of many pieces, plus some arrangements of mine.
Also recording in it were two other excellent musicians: another bandoneonist and a violinist. I was, and still am, very fond of this album.
I printed a batch of 1000 physical copies, distributed in 4 boxes: 3 boxes with 300 albums and 1 box with 100 albums.
I toured extensively with this project and eventually sold 900 copies, or, the three boxes of 300 albums. When I went home to open the last one containing 100 albums, I couldn’t find it. Where could it be?
I asked around in case it was misplaced by the post or by the press company, or even the record label. But no, nobody had it.
After some time, I gave up. It was lost. Besides, I was about to record and release my second album. So, no use to keep on worrying about it, I had bigger issues to worry about.
Fast forward. This Tuesday, August 15th, 2023, ten years after losing this 100 CD box, it has been found.
You might’ve connected the dots by now…
Nina, the daughter of Mrs. XX, found this box in the dusty attic of her mother’s Amsterdam canal house. In it, she found 100 brand new copies of my very first album, which is currently out of print and not available anywhere in the world.
Not even on digital platforms.
How did it get there?
I have absolutely no idea.
And since Mrs. XX is now gone (rest in peace) we might just never find out.
I didn´t know exactly what to do with this information. It is a highly valuable material to me since it’s so limited in number, and it is a document of the very beginning of my recording career.
So, I´ve decided to sell 80 copies.
I’ll keep 20 for myself, as a memory.
Each of the 80 copies that I sell will be hand signed by me personally with a dedication to those who ask for it, and it will be shipped directly by certified post. To those who buy it, a really nice digital present will be offered as well… you won´t find out what this is until you get it ;)
This is a very very limited opportunity to buy something physical from me personally since I don’t normally sell or give anything by post. But I think the situation deserves this extra effort from me.
I´ll tell you some more about this tomorrow, otherwise, this mail will be too large even for my own standards…
Have a great day.
Claudio.

P.D.D. Remember that this is a very limited opportunity, it won’t be around for long.
