Allowing time to create
In today’s world, uninterrupted time has become a luxury.
Notifications, emails, and the constant pull of digital distractions make it nearly impossible to sink into deep focus. The expectation of instant responses and the pressure to multitask fragment our attention, turning what could be hours of meaningful work into scattered, unfinished moments.
Creativity, however, does not thrive in these conditions—it requires time, patience, and the freedom to explore without interruption.
Keeler once said that an artist needs at least four uninterrupted hours to achieve just one full hour of concentrated and fruitful painting.
This idea is more relevant than ever.
Deep creative work is not something that can be forced in short bursts; it takes immersion and mental space to fully unfold. Yet, in a world that constantly demands our attention, those necessary hours of uninterrupted focus are slipping away.
Perhaps the greatest challenge for artists today is not finding inspiration, but reclaiming the time to nurture it. Protecting long, distraction-free periods is not indulgence—it is a necessity. Only by creating this space can creativity flourish, allowing for those rare and invaluable moments when something truly meaningful emerges.
Maybe the real question is: how much of our creative potential is lost simply because we don’t allow ourselves the time to reach it? How do you carve out uninterrupted time in your own life?
Have a great day,
Claudio.
