- Should we aim for stability?
Should we aim for stability?
The ways of the artist.
Fanciful, capricious, temperamental, willful… ever-changing.
Stable is not a word suitable for most artists.
Nor for most humans.
In a way, we are all in search of stability in our lives, whatever that means to us:
a partner, a family, a job, a profession, a hobby, a timetable, a schedule, a template… a formula for life.
But we all change. Our minds and bodies change. We grow older and wiser. We learn, and we fail constantly.
I like failing, I´ve learned to feel comfortable with failure. That´s only because I´ve failed so many times, too many to be able to remember.
And as sadistic as this may sound, I wish people failure… followed by quick recovery. This makes us stronger in ways we can´t imagine. If you´re over protected and have never fallen and bumped your head as a child, you were probably under-stimulated and over protected as well.
What I want to say with all of this is that for a musician, a new album is always a risk. It´s a chance for it to gain attention, or to fail.
It´s also a risk to be compared with your previous works, or with the works of other musicians who might be better or farther ahead than you are at the moment.
I love putting out albums. It´s sometimes scary to show yourself in such a naked and honest way, since art expresses that what lies deep inside of us.
Some of you will probably love my new release, others will be bored by it or even hate it.
Whatever the case, I´m releasing four volumes of my EP “Pocket Piano”, one volume every two weeks. The first one was released one week ago and vol.2 comes out this Friday.
You can listen to Vol.1 by clicking right here.
I hope it´ll give you a nice feeling to enjoy your lovely weekend.
Claudio.
